All about Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy is suitable for the whole family, from new born babies to elderly people. Bowen Therapy can support you and your families health and wellness.

I help to relieve pain (both chronic and acute), release stress and tension, I also help with sleep, along with a long list of other conditions.

I help to balance energy flows in the body, releasing long held tension, leading to a sense of relaxation, calm and clarity. This all helps to have a good nights sleep, post treatment.

I recommend Bowen treatments for anyone who wants a whole body treatment!

Feedback from clients; “I feel more in balance”, “I didn’t realise how tight I was” and “I always feel lighter and more connected after a treatment”

What is the Bowen Technique

“The Bowen technique is a gentle soft tissue therapy used in musculo-skeletal and systemic presentations, assisting regulation of the Autonomic Nervous System. Gentle rolling-type moves are used over specific soft tissue points, and the technique sets itself apart from other modalities by including “breaks” after a series of moves in order to facilitate the neuro-endocrine response.”

Between 1959 and 1982, Tom Bowen of Geelong, Australia developed a unique kind of Bodywork technique now practiced in his name. Since 1986 it has been taught extensively throughout the world through numerous training schools such as Fascial Kinetics, Bowtech and SmartBowen.

What is Fascial Kinetics Bowen?

This modality of Bowen, Fascial Kinetics was developed further by Russell Sturgess and is taught with a focus on anatomical knowledge of fascia and the connective tissue. A sound knowledge in anatomy and physiology allows me to use Bowen to address issues you are experiencing after a full, in depth consultation

What are the key points of Bowen?

  • Clothing can stay on!
  • It is different to massage as we work through the clothing, using the breath
  • There is no manipulation or adjustment
  • The experience of Bowen is gentle, subtle and relaxing. This is what makes the Bowen Technique so unique 🙂
  • Precise

The Bowen Therapy moves are a form of gentle but precise soft tissue manipulation. These moves are focused on crucial junctions of fascial planes, which in turn affect muscles, ligaments, tendons, nerve pathways, blood and lymph vessels.

  • During a session tissue restrictions are freed and reconnections made
  • Moves are preformed over meridian lines which open the flow of energy through the body, promoting balance within the body
  • Bowen Therapy naturally leads to an optimum rate of healing based on an individual’s body resources and their level of injury

    Gentle

It is a gentle therapy that does not require deep pressure, although the pressure is varied for each person. For most people the relaxation response is invoked, and it is common for both adults and children to fall asleep during the treatment.

    Fast

Rapid results are common. Often there is a response in one session and most injuries and pain can start to respond in 3 or 4 sessions. There is no limit to the number of treatments a client can receive. Maintenance sessions are of great benefit to help keep the body in a state of optimal balance and prevent re-injury.

Effective – Physically, Mentally Emotionally and Spiritually

Clients usually experience a deep and long lasting sense of relief, even from long standing injury or pain, stress and tension. Bowen Therapy moves generally help with sleep and bring about a feeling of calm and balance.

Clients who are on a spiritual journey often experience deeper insight during and after a treatment
